Learn English and broaden your horizon

Between 20 and 24 June, 2022 it was organized the 1st meeting of the project, hosted in Romania at SCOALA GIMNAZIALA CRETENI. There were organized interactive English activities for the students and the main idea was for the students to improve their English skills through non formal activities. Below, you can see what type of activities were conducted this period.
Kahoot
Kahoots are best played in a group setting. To join a game, you need a unique PIN. If you’re the game host, you need a big screen. Players answer on their own devices, while questions are displayed on a shared screen. In addition to live games, you can also send kahoot challenges that players complete at their own pace – for example, for homework or remote training. After a game, encourage players to create and share their own kahoots! English through drawing
Many children remember language more easily when they learn through creative activities such as drawing, colouring and crafts.
Our activity for young learners aimed to make language learning an enjoyable experience. The students considered this activity fun and enjoyable , which are ideal for motivating children to learn.
English through music
Singing is great for learning the rhythm of a language. It helps us learn how words are linked together in connected speech.
Singing along can be challenging, even for native speakers. So help your child with these easy steps:

Find the song lyrics online, or find a music video with subtitles. For example, Sing and Learn is great for younger children.

Read the song lyrics out loud. Look up any unknown words in a dictionary.

Listen to the song and read the lyrics at the same time. Encourage your child to sing along.

When they’re ready, try singing along without looking at the lyrics.

Remember, they don’t have to get it perfect straight away! It’s actually more effective to repeat regularly.
Some children find it hard to speak English because they are shy or lack confidence. Singing with other people can help. It creates a safe space for children to practise expressing themselves aloud. Ask other family members to join in when your child sings at home. They don’t have to be musical. They simply need to be enthusiastic!

Playing Hangman
Hangman is a popular game and it is useful when it comes to learn new English words. You are shown a set of blank letters that match a word or phrase and you have to guess what these letters are to reveal the hidden word. You guess by picking letters from those displayed on the sides. If you pick a letter that is in the word, a sound is played and that letter is revealed from the blank letters; however, if you pick a letter that is not in the word, then a stickman is slowly drawn. With each wrong letter guess, the man is drawn more and more. When the man is finished, he is hung and the game is lost. This is why the game is called 'Hangman'. If you can reveal all the letters in the word before the man is hung then you are successful and the full word is revealed along with an image showing the meaning of the word. An audio clip should also play if it has been loaded.
The letters are in 2 sets: vowels appear on the left and the consonants on the right. In order to make the game easier, wrong guesses from vowels do not count as mistakes and do not draw the man. So it is advisable to click on all the vowels first. If you prefer to make thing harder, you can change this setting by clicking on the settings button.
Outdoor activities
By heading outside and learning in nature, kids improve their emotional, intellectual, and behavioral development. Outdoor learning helps foster the development of creativity, problem-solving, independence, and confidence
